ARCHITECTURE AT BLACK MOUNTAIN COLLEGE and Summerhill wood workshop

Dear all,

(Could someone upload to blog? Not sure how to do it.)

I am sure you all read heard and know abt Buckminster Fuller's work in Black Mountain College in N. Carolina, late 1940's. This experimental college was a great example on pedagogy of teaching art and design, closely influenced by Bauhaus methods via Josef Albers. Just found this article to add to the mix. See PDF below.

The other inspirational link for me is the 24 hours open access wood workshop that is in the core of Summerhill, the integration of the manual and intellectual in its education. Here is a link to the school website, tho the book of A. Neils, which I'll bring to the workshop, tells the full story: http://www.summerhillschool.co.uk/history.php http://www.summerhillschool.co.uk/history.php
